**Who we are**

The Commissioner’s work directly contributes to the practical efficacy and social sustainability of Australia’s energy transition, both through helping local communities to resolve concerns at a project-level, and by undertaking broader efforts to promote transparency and best practices across projects, industry and governments. The Office of the AEIC supports the Commissioner’s multi-dimensional impact by providing professional expertise across the four key workflows of case-handling, stakeholder engagement, transparency and best practice, and operational effectiveness.

**The Job**
This position provides a unique opportunity to work directly with communities, industry representatives and government agencies during an important time in Australia’s energy transition.

As part of a collaborative and energetic team, you will help the Commissioner and the Office team to identify, monitor, unpack and have a meaningful impact on complex issues at both the project and systemic levels. As an APS5 Policy and Research Officer, your work would be managed by the Policy and Communications Officer and together you will leverage the AEIC’s unique position to help the Commissioner convert the team’s case-handling and stakeholder engagement insights into influential cross-sector transparency and best practice initiatives.

Your work would also include undertaking research and analysis on current legislative, regulatory and industry requirements, helping the Commissioner to contribute to external policy development processes, as well as ongoing liaison and partnerships with a range of stakeholders to identify emerging issues and formulate practical solutions. Building on your involvement in the Office’s ongoing case handling and stakeholder engagement activities, this work also includes the opportunity to undertake project site visits and meetings with regional communities across Australia.

The role would also contribute to the AEIC’s own website and communication products, helping to ensure that people with questions and concerns about new renewable energy projects and transmission infrastructure are able to easily access helpful credible information and pursue practical outcomes.
