About the Role
The Commercial Analyst - Asset Portfolio Planning will assist in developing an integrated portfolio strategy for AGL assets. This role has a focus on financial modelling, business case and strategy development for AGLs hydro, renewable and thermal generation assets.
The Asset Portfolio Planning team provide a key interface between the trading, finance and operations teams in the areas of capital expenditure planning, business case development, outage scheduling and strategy development as it relates to AGLs existing generation assets. We are responsible for providing insight and guidance to decision makers including senior management and the board in relation to large capital projects and portfolio planning.
What you’ll be doing:
- Analyze portfolio level strategies to help guide the spend/value decisions for AGL assets
- Development of best practice financial models (DCF/NPV/IRR)
- Manage stakeholders across trading, finance, operations, and government relations team
- Develop high quality slide packs and board papers for decision makers
- Manage project timelines, milestones and key deliverables
- Provide support implementing a consistent approach to spend evaluation aligning project values to corporate goals
- Develop and maintain asset levels models that outline the planned spend and performance characteristics of the assets in the AGL portfolio taking into account market requirements and underlying plant technical parameters
- Clearly define portfolio priorities and articulate both financial and strategic/non-financial goals
- Provide transparency in decision making for portfolio level decisions, for each of the assets
About You
What you’ll bring to the table:
- A creative and curious analyst with a proven track record in financial model development
- Experience and understanding of the energy industry would be significantly advantageous
- High level of proficiency in financial modelling, excel and VBA
- Ability to present complex concepts to a broad range of stakeholders in a concise manner
- Outstanding stakeholder management skills, including proven experience working with and influencing senior management
- Proven ability to drive collaborative outcomes across cross-functional groups
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written
