Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Construction Manager to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG) group in Perth.
Our Project Delivery Group (PDG) helps clients with world-class project delivery from studies to building assets, operating the assets, and developing efficiencies through our people, methodologies, governance, and systems. Our engineering and project management and construction disciplines ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable delivery of projects globally across the metals and mining, infrastructure, and energy sectors.
The Construction Manager, working from the project office during the engineering phase(s) is responsible for the overall planning, direction, organization, and budgeting of all construction or maintenance work, on the project to the highest safety and quality levels within time and costs constraints. During the engineering phase, the Construction Manager is primary responsible for the development of the construction strategies and execution schedule. They must oversee the organizational plans, detailed schedule development and implementation strategies.
- Responsible for all safety planning associated with the project construction execution methods selection, with support of the Project Manager and Site Health and Safety Manager.
- Coordinate with the client, project management, and project services in identifying required reporting procedures and formats for client and Hatch management needs.
- Ensure Construction Work Packages (CWP) are defined to a level sufficient for a level three schedule and are coordinated with engineering and procurement.
- Contributes to and review capital estimates, schedule and design as they pertain to construction.
- Review construction/erection drawings and specifications prepared for the project for economic constructability, develop strategies for erection interfaces, determine appropriate construction methods, and preempt problem areas.
- Develop site organization and staffing requirements required to execute construction activities within project schedule and acceptable costs.
- Direct, monitor and motivate subordinate construction specialists in performance and direct activities as necessary to ensure project requirements are achieved.
- Establish the construction requirements for pre-fabrication and modularization
- Provide construction technical support to other site functions as needed.
- Liaise with project representatives as required to ensure shutdowns, relocations, tie ins, etc. are planned safely and in a timely manner with minimum disruption.
- Participate in the labor studies, manpower sourcing exercise and the establishment of the industrial relations strategy.
- Coordinate the preparation and issue of the Construction Execution Plan
**You will bring to this role**:
- Significant construction management experience on major projects or in heavy or industrial construction. You have demonstrated health and safety management focus in the construction phase of project delivery, and have extensive knowledge of health and safety management procedures, safe work practices, and applicable legislation.
- You are degree qualified in a relevant field with strong leadership skills, the ability to motivate and lead a discipline focused team, and fit into a team environment. You demonstrate effective report writing skills, planning, organizational and oral skills, and are able to communicate directly with the client on key issues.
- Knowledge of furnace operations is an advantage.
