**The Role**

The position of Head of Executive and Civic Service reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is the primary point of contact for the Executive Unit. This position is accountable for sound organisational leadership and guidance and is also directly responsible for the management of the Executive and Civic Services team.

The Head of Executive and Civic Services manages and works closely with the Executive and Civic Services team to plan, monitor and review effective delivery of strategic project initiatives, Civic deliverables, Mayoral/Councillor, executive support functions, and the operations of the Ballarat Town Hall.

The Head of Executive and Civic Services works collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team and across the organisation on matters as they arise; as well as close proximity on initiatives of the CEO’s direct portfolio areas - Advocacy and Lobbying and Communication and Design.

**About You**

**Key Selection Criteria**
- Tertiary qualifications in Business or relevant discipline or lesser qualifications with extensive experience; management qualifications.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate, advise, liaise and persuade to gain cooperation from stakeholders at a senior level, staff and customers.
- Extensive experience in a chief executive advisory role dealing with complex confidential service requirements.
- Keen understanding of the complexities and scope of service in Local Government, familiarity State and Federal Governments and a detailed knowledge of government relations.
- Politically astute.
- Demonstrate high level of communication, resilience, interpersonal and public relations skills including the ability to inspire and motivate others, and the capacity to deal with conflict and challenging behaviour.
- Ability to independently anticipate and identify problems and resolve complex issues, interpreting and providing strategic advice and issues assessments.
- Demonstrated experience with venue and events management.
- Experience in financial records and budget management and indicating sound financial literacy.
