About the Role:
As the Head of Environment, you will be responsible for leading the Environmental strategy, risk management and compliance across key operational sites. You will be a key member of the HSE Leadership Team and you will help shape AGL’s strategic focus and lead the implementation of initiatives and projects that align and improve HSE performance in order to support healthy, safe and sustainable behaviours and improvements.
What you’ll be doing:
- Partner with the General Manager HSE to drive continuous improvement of the high performing HSE culture that drives accountability and employee advocacy
- Creating a culture that reflects AGL’s values and commitment to our people and environment
- Lead the development and implementation of HSE projects and initiatives and ensure that key milestones are achieved
- Encourage and value the diversity in AGL’s workforce, upholding AGL’s inclusive workplace culture
- Build and maintain strategic relationships at all levels, including senior leadership
- Proactively monitor Environmental performance trends and initiate continuous improvement opportunities across AGL
- Designing effective Environment programs, monitoring compliance and reporting issues, progress and recommended solutions
- Review and manage the team and individual performance and identify opportunities to innovate and improve
- Monitor environmental legislation and regulations, including consulting regulators on expected changes
- Management of inputs to risk profiling, compliance and controls identification and verification
About You:
You will be an experienced Environment leader with experience with heavy industrial site risks and the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. You will have broad Environmental skills and a strong understanding of Environmental legislation.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Management, Engineering, Science or similar
- Extensive experience in an Environment leadership role, ideally within the energy / power generation or similar industry
- Experience working with Environmental management systems, undertaking Environmental audits and Environmental data management and reporting
- An understanding of solid waste management, emissions to air, discharges to water, contamination of land and groundwater
- Advanced leadership capabilities and a collaborative style which can manage and influence a variety of stakeholders
- Experience making recommendations underpinned by an understanding of the business strategy and compliance obligations
- Advanced risk evaluation and management skills
- Advanced communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
- Commercial acumen and strong financial management skills
- The ability and willingness to travel to sites
