**About the Role**
Join us as a Lecturer in Development Studies at the School of Social and Political Sciences and be part of a dynamic academic environment focused on fostering excellence in teaching and research.
You will play a vital role in delivering a range of courses within the Development Studies program, including teaching into the Masters for Leadership in Development, focusing on specialisations including Monitoring and Evaluation, Political Economy of Development, and Leadership Skills in Action.
We are seeking individuals with a strong commitment to impactful teaching and research, demonstrated by a track record of high-quality publications and innovative teaching practices. You will not only contribute to the academic community within the Faculty but also establish and nurture partnerships with national and international networks, enriching both your research endeavors and student experiences.
Your responsibilities will extend beyond the classroom, encompassing research activities, supervision of postgraduate students, and administrative duties relevant to your role within the Faculty.
Adopting a student-centric approach will be integral to your success in this position, ensuring an enriching and inclusive learning environment for all.
Responsibilities include:
- Subject coordination including the supervision of sessional tutors (administrative and academic)
- Curriculum design and innovation, including cross-disciplinary approaches
- Development of technology-based teaching, learning and assessment programs and resources
- Teaching and learning innovation grants (with emphasis on national competitive and peer reviewed)
- Supervision of theses at Honours and Masters by coursework level
- Publications, including (but not limited to) peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, books, creative outputs and commissioned reports
- Research grants and external research income (emphasis on competitive, international and peer-reviewed)
**Who We Are Looking For**
We are seeking a committed and engaging educator with experience of teaching at tertiary level. You will also have the opportunity to conduct scholarly activity or academic research that informs and enhances your teaching. You will also possess well-established academic skills and strong academic performance.
You will also have:
- A completed PhD in Development Studies or a closely related discipline
- Demonstrated ability for excellence in teaching including the capacity to initiate course development
- Demonstrated course coordination experience
- Ability to supervise honours and postgraduate coursework degree theses
- A strong record in research with a developing publication profile
- Demonstrated capacity for multidisciplinary and collaborative research
- Capacity to attract research grants and consultancies
- Proven initiative in and commitment to identifying, collaborating and engaging on research and/or learning with a wide range of external interests including public bodies, businesses, not-for-profits and communities
