**The Opportunity**

The Drug Delivery, Disposition and Dynamics (D4) Theme is seeking a motivated and talented Research Fellow to join our team.

In this role, you will contribute to a novel project investigating the role of blood-brain barrier (BBB) and blood-spinal cord barrier (BSCB) proteins in the progression of neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular focus on motor neurone disease and Alzheimer’s disease. A key aspect of this position will be exploring the pharmacological manipulation of these brain barrier proteins and their impact on disease progression.

You will work across a range of experimental approaches, including animal models of neurodegeneration, in vitro cell culture, pharmaceutical analysis and imaging modalities. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with national and international research partners and to publish your findings in leading peer-reviewed journals.

To be successful, you will hold a doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline and have demonstrated experience conducting behavioural studies in animal models of neurodegeneration—ideally in Alzheimer’s disease and motor neurone disease. Experience in evaluating markers of disease progression using immunohistochemistry or related techniques will also be highly regarded.
