Financial Systems and Improvement Manager

**About the role**

The **_Financial Systems Accounting Manager _**is responsible for leading and building a capable team of professionals who ensure the seamless utilisation of Councils’ financial systems to provide timely information and business processes to support effective decision making. Demonstrating a **_People First : Community First _**approach and behaviours, you will grow and develop true business partnering with all stakeholders.

On a daily basis you will:

- Work with the CFO and Finance Team to partner with the Business Solutions team to design, develop and implement new or upgraded finance systems allowing for seamless integration with other finance systems and business processes.
- Research, develop and make recommendations on actions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Council’s financial systems with the aim of establishing a single source of truth.
- Develop and maintain a sound knowledge of Council’s financial data sources and business processes used in the Finance unit to ensure accurate financial and management reporting.
- Manage financial systems to ensure accuracy and integrity of all financial data, to enable finance systems to be confidently used in the decision-making process.
- Provide advice in finance systems, maintaining good knowledge of developments and best practices and proactively explore options to deliver productivity for the Finance unit.
- Train business managers and staff in the use of financial systems and to develop their understanding of finance system functions.
- Ensure readiness and accuracy of financial figures in preparation of Council’s Delivery Program, Annual Financial Statements and Quarterly Review preparation.
- Establish and oversee the delivery of a framework including governance, policies, and procedures to ensure reliability of Finance systems integration to subsidiary and external systems.
- Preparation, review and maintain financial system procedures and policies.
- Assist in the preparation of Council’s Delivery Program, Annual Financial Statements, Taxation requirements and other tasks as requested.

**About You**
- Degree in Accounting (or Business-related discipline or IT with a Finance focus).
- Demonstrated experience in managing projects successfully.
- In depth working knowledge of computerised accounting systems and the integration points between different finance modules.
- Comprehensive understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and the Local Government Code of Accounting Practice.

We are offering an attractive base remuneration from $123,987 to $136,561 (+super).
