Riverside Marine operates over 40 vessels across world-leading operations within Australia across its Rivtow, Riverside Oceanic, Magnetic Island Ferries and Riverside Industrial Sands brands. This includes operating large harbour tugs, dredges, marine research vessels and vehicular ferries over a wide range of world-leading marine operations.
Riverside Oceanic provides marine solutions to the Australian and International hydrographic and marine research community. Our vessels provide a new standard in quality and flexibility for a hydrographic, oceanographic, geophysical, geotechnical, environmental and site inspection surveys.
***About the Position**:
We are looking for a competent and experienced Operations Manager to join the Riverside Oceanic Team.
**Position Purpose**:
The Operations Manager will lead the operation of the Riverside Oceanic marine fleet, ensuring the safe execution of all operational and technical aspects within the business unit. The role focuses on delivering high-quality services while maintaining operational excellence and adhering to contractual obligations and safety standards. The position ensures safe, efficient, and compliant vessel operations, fostering strong relationships with clients, crew, and other stakeholders.
**Required Qualifications and Training**:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the marine industry, with hands-on involvement in managing fleet operations or similar roles.
- Strong knowledge of ISM (International Safety Management), ISO standards, Class regulations, and AMSA (Australian Maritime Safety Authority) requirements.
- Proven experience in overseeing and successfully managing projects within marine operations, from planning through execution to completion.
- MSIC (Maritime Security Identification Card) or the ability to obtain one, as required for work in security-controlled maritime zones.

- **Legislation & Compliance**: Expertise in navigating and managing compliance within ISM, ISO, Class regulations, and AMSA requirements.
- **Project and Contract Management**: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time delivery within scope and budget.
- **Problem-Solving & Resilience**: Demonstrates flexibility and adeptness in solving complex challenges and implementing effective solutions under pressure.
- **Leadership & Results**: Proven ability to lead teams positively and deliver results within agreed timeframes, while fostering continuous improvement.
- **Technical Skills**: Proficiency in computer and digital tools for data analysis, reporting, and operational management.

**Collaboration and Communication**:
- **Client and Stakeholder Communication**: Serve as the primary communication point for clients, contractors, vessel teams, and other stakeholders to ensure service delivery requirements are met.
- **Proactive Stakeholder Engagement**: Foster proactive and open communication with all relevant stakeholders, including clients, vessel crews, port authorities, and others, to ensure smooth operations and quick resolution of issues.
- **Client Interface Meetings**: Represent the company in client interface meetings to ensure clear communication and alignment on operational expectations and contract performance.
***Major Responsiblities**:
- **Health and Safety Audits**: Conduct internal and external audits to ensure compliance with HSE regulations and promote continuous safety improvement.
- **Safe and Reliable Vessel Operations**: Ensure the daily safe, reliable, and efficient operation of vessels and associated infrastructure, collaborating with vessel crews.
- **Safety Management System Compliance**: Implement and maintain the company’s SMS at an operational level and promote a safety-first culture.
- **Crew Competency and Training**: Ensure contracting partners provide capable and competent crews to meet operational needs.
- **Operational Readiness**: Coordinate with the Group Technical Manager regarding fleet readiness, including maintenance, docking, and bunkering.
- **Certification Compliance**: Monitor and verify the certification compliance of contracting crews, addressing any gaps.
- **Reporting and Documentation**: Ensure accurate and timely reporting of operational data to meet the company and client requirements.
