Located just 15 kilometres north-west of the centre of Melbourne, Hume City Council is one Australia’s fastest growing and most culturally-diverse communities. Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure and Assets, the Manager City Parks and Open Spaces will bring a fresh strategic approach to Council’s city parks and open space services to ensure they are delivered to the highest standards for Hume. Working with a passionate team and engaging broadly across the organisation and the community, you will lead the effective management of the department in a growth municipality with a huge diversity of open space, sports fields, park assets and streetscapes. You will take responsibility for service planning in line with current and projected growth, ensuring that delivery requirements can be met in a sustainable manner. With a hybrid delivery model, you will have oversight of a large team of internal staff, as well as overall responsibility for contract management. Based at the depot, the Manager City Parks and Open Spaces will play a key leadership role in regards to operational culture, with a real opportunity to leave a legacy for the organisation and the community.

To be successful in this role you will be a proven leader with extensive experience relating to parks, gardens, sports fields, or a similar role, ideally within a public sector or aligned environment. Key to your success will be your ability to balance the strategic and operational objectives of your role, as well as your excellent people and contract management skill sets. With demonstrated experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams, you will have the ability to work as a senior member of an established and high-performing organisation, ensuring an engaged culture and high-level of quality in project outcomes. With tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, the lived experienced you bring to the role and your continued focus on safety, culture, and outcomes will be paramount to the success of your team.
