**Your new company**

Our client is an established and reputable Government Department, located in Brisbane, provides essential licence services and other services to the community. Due to high demand, they are now seeking an AO7 Principal Policy Advisor to join the team.

**Your new role**

In the role of Principal Advisor (Policy) you will:

- Support the Project Director by providing timely and informed advice on major rail policies and key rail infrastructure issues, organisational accountabilities and interagency activities
- Manage the operation of the Project Director, ensuring the efficient flow of issues and correspondence, establishing appropriate priorities and successful delivery of all outcomes.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure the timely provision of information to the Project team on the department's operations, strategies and policies and manage and coordinate specific tasks and projects.
- Provide high level leadership in assisting the Project Director.
- Represent the Project Director including exercising discretion with sensitive issues and make judgements.
- Liaise with a broad range of stakeholders, both internally and externally, to research, analyse, make recommendations and prepare responses for the Project Director, including ministerials, briefing papers, submissions and reports, on critical and sensitive matters.
- Research and analyse data and information in order to prepare responses, briefing notes and presentations on a range of issues and to make recommendations.
- Brief the Project Director or their representative in preparation for attendance at the internal and external meetings, conferences and workshops.
- Review branch responses and briefing notes to executive correspondence to ensure consistency with departmental policy and standards.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Assist the leadership team in the day to day management of the project including the delivery of strategic projects and operational planning.
- Assist the Project Director to manage and deliver on Probity, Workplace Health & Safety and HR Obligations.
- Other accountabilities and tasks as reasonably directed.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Formal relevant tertiary qualifications and/or background/experience in program/project delivery, policy/strategy development and communication roles in a similar organisation (desirable).
- Experience in a similar role is essential.
