**Mandatory Qualification/Requirements**:
- You are required to be admitted or eligible to gain immediate admission, as a Barrister-at-Law or solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland
**Desirable Requirements**:

**Role specific/technical skills**:
- You possess child protection expertise and knowledge of the department's services to children and families within a legal setting, along with a demonstrated understanding of and experience in practice management principles.
This position is based in Brisbane, however location is negotiable.
**Key duties and responsibilities**:
- Provide strategic leadership and management to the leadership teams in the development, implementation and review of: professional development, recruitment, financial performance, and systems and processes to ensure the efficient functioning of the team.
- Ensure the management and coordination of all ministerial and executive documentation in an effective and timely manner, including review, critical evaluation and response to correspondence, memoranda and briefing notes to ensure quality, relevance, appropriateness and compliance with departmental guidelines.
- Prepare, collate, analyse, review and disseminate high-quality court-related data using tools such as Power BI and Microsoft Excel, and monitor and report on trends.
- Design and prepare authoritative statistical reports, documents, briefs andcorrespondence as required.
- Lead projects which impact on the operations of OCFOS including workforce capability, attraction, establishment and management of governance, operational and strategic planning and risk registers.
- Support the Official Solicitor and leadership teams through provision of advice and data to ensure they are able to perform their corporate governance and compliance obligations including responses to ministerial and departmental correspondence and enquiries.
- Build and sustain positive working relationships and networks with relevant internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of high-quality executive services to the Official Solicitor.
- Maintain high level of knowledge of the legal responsibilities and expectations on the OCFOS team and issues pertaining to child protection litigation more broadly.
- Ensure effective management and monitoring of the office's budget and staff establishment in accordance with statutory responsibilities, government priorities and departmental policies and procedures. Supervise the business support team, and lead the induction of new staff.
- Provide leadership at a statewide level for litigation support officers to identify and resolve issues, and promote and maintain a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
- Strategically plan for and promote a positive workplace culture within the OCFOS team that prioritises commitment, ethical behaviour, staff wellbeing, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement.
This position is aligned to the Program Leader profile of the Queensland Public Service Leadership competencies for Queensland. To be successful in this role, you will be required to demonstrate capability in the areas detailed within the Role Profile.
**Delegations**:
This position has a range of administrative, financial and human resource delegations attached to it, in accordance with the Department's requirements.
This position reports to the Official Solicitor.
