About the Role

Two full time permanent position has become available within the AGL Procurement team. In these newly created roles, you will have responsibility for supporting the delivery of the Retail & Technology initiatives, which contribute to operational excellence and transforms AGL into a nimble and efficient multi-service organisation at scale, delivering simplicity for our people and exceptional experiences for our customers.
You will be an experienced procurement professional, who can influence inside and outside of procurement teams, with the ability to interact and challenge at senior management levels. You will have a strategic mindset and understand the strategic drivers and how to link to goals and performance. You will have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, and a demonstrated capacity to develop viable business cases.
What you’ll be doing:
- Partner with the Retail & Technology business stakeholders to contribute to the development of business cases from the design through to implementation phases, to achieve optimal commercial and procurement outcomes
- Manage strategic relationships across AGL relating to Retail & Technology
- Development and approval of procurement plans aligned to the relevant transformational initiatives, including business and stakeholder requirements of AGL
- Delivery of procurement plans for the relevant activity and subsequent approval of identified benefits that contribute to the cost reduction targets of AGL.
- Executing sourcing activity within the requirements of the Strategic Project timelines, ensuring GMs and EGMs and stakeholders are informed on key milestone activities for transformational initiatives.
- Leading negotiations with suppliers to achieve the required benefit and risk outcomes.
- Managing dispute resolution when required to ensure exposure to AGL is minimized.
- Completing periodic reporting including progress to procurement plan deliverables, business improvement requirements, and the Finance team requirements.
- Ensuring Supplier Management activities are completed, including resolving disputes when escalated to maintain strong relationships and successful commercial outcomes.
- Influence the Leadership Teams in driving an optimal operating model which invests in and develops capability, promotes key skills, collaboration, and flexibility, and enhances the overall value proposition of procurement.
About You
What you’ll bring to the table:
- Proven experience in enterprise functions including time in highly complex technology environments.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a matrix management environment, whilst being able to bring structured working practices to dynamic and evolving stakeholder teams.
- Demonstrate an inherent ability to use effective negotiating and influencing skills in a consultative and constructive manner.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including highly developed written and presentation skills for internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven experience in developing and managing medium to large scale sourcing activities, including negotiations with a successful track record in delivery.
- A trusted procurement and commercial advisor who understands our stakeholder’s business and drivers, and their operational requirements.
- Demonstrated understanding of best practice procurement processes and environment including governance and risk management
- Tertiary qualifications associated with Procurement; Business, Commerce or Law is preferred, and/or extensive experience in developing and managing medium to large scale sourcing functions and contract negotiations.
- MCIPS Procurement qualification, or Postgraduate qualifications (desirable)
