About the Role

The Principal Project Officer will provide high-level advice and support to senior officers on policy and strategy relating to disability reform priorities, disability strategy, inclusive education for students with disability and school transport assistance for students with disability.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Contribute to project design, policy analysis and review of procedures, programs and initiatives to enhance educational opportunities for students with disability
Establish and maintain effective project management processes and activities to support team priorities and track key pieces of work
Use your strong communications skills to establish and cultivate effective relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders to inform responses to and implementation of disability policy and program initiatives
Provide high level strategic advice to senior officers of the department and other key stakeholders on issues relevant to disability policy and program initiatives
Prepare and review briefing material, correspondence and reports for the Minister, senior departmental officers, government agencies and other entities on issues related to disability reform, inclusive education and school transport
Develop professional resources for school and regional staff related to disability policy and program initiatives
Develop and deliver professional learning to school and regional staff related to disability reform, policy and program initiatives

About You

Highly desirable skills and experience:
Exceptional project management skills, agile and highly organised
Attention to detail and excellent coordination skills
Strong policy, briefing, government processes and data analysis skills
Demonstrated success in managing multiple work activities and priorities to meet tight timelines and deliver on agreed milestones
Strong background in program and/or project management, including reporting and monitoring progress of key deliverables
Effective and respectful stakeholder management and liaison skills
Experience in development of professional resources and facilitation of professional learning to relevant stakeholders to ensure policy intent and implementation practices align
Commitment to engaging with others and taking steps to optimise a healthy, inclusive and safe workplace
Passion for continuous learning and commitment to communicating openly about strengths and development goals
