**The Role: Operations Supervisor**

**Location: Smithfield**

**Hours: Monday to Friday - Afternoon shift**

**Key Responsibilities of the role include**:

- Managing workflow
- Managing linehaul movements and direct linehaul deliveries (daily allocation requirements of resources for all linehaul movements)
- Ensure all transport operations comply with WHS, HACCP policies along with the Chain of Responsibility, fatigue, and Mass Management legislation
- Maintain a working relationship with drivers and manage time-critical communications for current, pending, and future jobs.
- Ensure all reporting functions are completed each day and on time
- Daily SPA’s (manual or electronic)
- Safe driving plans
- Training current and new employees
- Loading/unloading procedures
- Staging freight per destination
- Consolidation of freight
- Ensure that the training needs of employees are met.
- Creating and managing team schedules
- Planning, monitoring, and appraising results and developing a climate for offering information and opinions.
- Reporting to the depot manager and senior management
- Liaise with internal and external stake holders
- Evaluating staff and driver performance and providing feedback
- Provides appropriate input into disciplinary decisions related to the associates
- Day to day operational requirements
- Managing the staging of freight and ensuring all staged correctly
- Co-ordinate day-to-day country deliveries for all rigids
- Strategies and identify potential service issues to avoid any impact to the customer.
- Managing, coordinating end to end operational yard processes.
- Ensure smooth handover from night shift to day shift and vice versa
- All returns staged, scanned and paperwork raised
- All uglies staged
- All bays with freight held must be scanned and labelled
- All forklifts parked in loaders bay
- Depot clean and presentable

Ability to route loads effectively
- Management of deliveries/pick up in accordance with daily planning
- Accountability for optimising and managing drivers' hours and outside hire costs
- Effective and efficient planning and scheduling of pickups and deliveries
- Monitoring and supporting activities of drivers and the standard of vehicles to ensure companies and customers’ expectations are met
- Requirement to communicate on a regular basis with internal and external customers
- Respond to customer queries in a timely manner
- Transport related administration as required by management
- Operational performance with regards to cost, productivity, and DIFOT
- Developing an engaged workforce
- Sound knowledge of Chain of Responsibility (CoR)

**Competencies and experience required**

Experience managing multiple priorities.
- Strong and effective communication; Professional communication style, written and verbally; Good negotiation skills.
- Ability to be flexible and learn new things.
- Problem solving skills.
- Good understanding of Australian transport system, knowledge of Australian Main Cities and Regional NSW
- Work well in a team environment.
- Work well under pressure while following policies and procedures.
- Forklift License
