**The Role**

As a Financial Reporting Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial transparency, regulatory compliance, and informed decision-making within the Department. This role is responsible for analysing and validating financial reports while driving process improvements, managing reconciliations and fostering strong stakeholder relationships.

**Key accountabilities include**:

- Prepare and submit the DJSIR's portfolio agencies' monthly and bi-annual data feed into the Public Ledger including undertaking adjustments as required including preparing opening balances for the new financial year.
- Perform general ledger and grant management systems reconciliations, identifying discrepancies, implementing solutions, and ensuring compliance with the Australian Accounting Standards, Financial Reporting Directions and Financial Management Act 1994.
- Assist in the preparation of the Department's Annual Financial Statements and support external audit team, ensuring alignment with Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) and other legislative requirements.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, providing expert financial advice, improving financial literacy, and enhancing decision-making.
- Contribute to enhancing the efficiency, effectiveness, efficiency and financial management capability of the Financial Services team within the Department.
- Develop and implement robust internal controls, financial policies, procedures and frameworks to ensure general ledger integrity and compliance with financial reporting requirements.

**The Team**

The position of Financial Reporting Analyst will work within Finance, Investment and Procurement branch, which sits within Corporate Services group.

The Corporate Services group consists of specialist functions including strategic communications, finance, investment and procurement, performance and governance, legal and legislation, people and culture, information technology and workplace services and emergency management. These functions enable the department to operate efficiently and effectively and support the Secretary and Ministers to meet legislative obligations and responsibilities whilst actively supporting the department's portfolio groups and Ministers to create the conditions for growing Victoria's prosperity, building the productive capacity of our economy, and increasing participation.

The group works to build a safe, high-performing organisation where the department's people are supported to perform at their best. The group does this by providing strategic, operational and program delivery support services in creative and innovative ways.

**About You**

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:

- **Understanding of government**: Knowledge and understanding of key processes involved in government accounting and finance, including the operation of Financial Management Act 1994, Financial Reporting Directions and Standing Directions.
- **Stakeholder management**: Identifies issues in common for one or more stakeholders and uses to build mutually beneficial partnerships, Identifies and responds to stakeholder's underlying needs, uses understanding of the stakeholder's organisational context to ensure outcomes are achieved, finds innovative solutions to resolve stakeholder issues.
