Visiting Medical Officer

**Position Title**: Interventional Radiologist (VMO)

**Employment Type**: Part Time

**Hours per week**: Up to 16 hours per week

**Position Grade**: Visiting Medical Officer (with licence agreement)

**Enterprise Agreement**: The Public Hospitals (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination 2014 as amended or in force from time to time.

**Position Summary**:
Within the framework of the Mission, Vision, Values and Philosophy as well as the Policies of SVHS, and in collaboration with the Service Director to lead the staff, liaise with other staff and assist in achieving optimal operation of the Medical Imaging Department, in the provision of clinical services, research and teaching.

The Interventional Radiologist has responsibility for service standards, patient throughput, continuing education, research, training of staff and students as well as liaison with key stakeholders and other relevant professional bodies. This includes:

- Provide interventional radiology services during normal working hours.
- Report and validate imaging reports; make reports available in a timely manner (normally with in the same working day or 24 hours); communicate urgent reports appropriately.
- Participate in teaching and research duties.
- Promotion of good patient care and the good reputation of the department and the hospital.
- Participation in on-call rosters.

We are accredited by ACHS for the National Safety & Quality Standards, Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme (DIAS), Practice Accreditation Standards (NATA) and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiology (RANZCR).

**Selection Criteria**
- Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.
- Possess, or be eligible to possess, specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia and obtain a provider number from Medicare to practice as a specialist in Australia.
- Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997.
- Demonstrated training and experience in Tier A and Tier B interventional radiology.
- Demonstrated management ability in clinical service planning, and in the provision of a patient focused, comprehensive, high quality and cost effective clinical service with knowledge and commitment to the implementation of best practice and clinical service innovation.
- Demonstrated leadership skills that support and foster innovation to create a learning culture, with proven ability to improve the quality of services and patient care outcomes including ability and commitment to undertake basic human resource management functions including performance management.
- Demonstrated ability to provide high quality compassionate medical care as evidenced by recent practice experience in working congenially and collaboratively as both a leader and member of a multidisciplinary team, and as a provider of services that engender high levels of patient satisfaction and experience.
- Demonstrated ongoing contribution to the development, dissemination, and translation of new knowledge and practices commensurate with work in an academic teaching hospital environment.
