**Position Information**:
Canley Vale Public School is a large, dynamic and complex school located in the heart of South Western Sydney catering to the needs of 850 students P-6 and their families. We currently have 32 mainstream classes K-6 and 4 Preschool classes. The school serves a culturally diverse community with 98% of students identified as EAL/D.
The school provides a wide range of academic and extra-curricular programs aimed at developing the 'whole child'. These programs include Community Languages, Schools as a Community Centre, Preschool, Community and Multicultural events, choir, dance, debating, public speaking and various sporting activities. Students are provided with leadership opportunities and development.
The school is a hub of the local community and often serves as a meeting place for parents. It also provides a venue for weekend Community Language schools and an OSHC (Out of School Hours Care) facility. Community Liaison Officers assist the school to maintain positive and open channels of communication between staff, students, parents and community members. The Schools as a Community Centre (SaCC) program runs four days a week with both community and supported playgroups as well as parenting program groups meeting regularly.
Professional learning for all staff is a major focus and much of this is accomplished via the delivery of regular team-based sessions, whereby grade teams work with our Assistant Principals, Curriculum and Instruction.
Canley Vale Public School is supported by a small but dedicated P&C Association to provide a further avenue via which parents and school community members are able to actively participate in, and contribute to, the education of students.
**Selection Criteria**:
- Approval to teach infants and primary with capacity to develop and implement high quality, differentiated teaching and learning programs in Literacy and Numeracy.
- Proven ability to develop a creative and positive classroom learning environment with strategies to enhance student well-being and learning.
- Highly developed interpersonal, organisational and communication skills with the capacity to build positive student, staff and community relationships in a high NESB community.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to whole school and extracurricular activities, with emphasis on Sport, Public Speaking and Debating.
