**Position Information**:
Verona School, with sites located in Fairfield East and Canley Vale, is a school for specific purpose, catering for up to 98 students across the two campuses. Our school supports students in Year 5-12 with significant additional needs including behaviour disorders, emotional disturbances, mental health and autism. Students are supported by a class teacher and SLSO, to learn in small classes of seven students. Verona School supports a significant number of Aboriginal students and works alongside key stakeholders to ensure a culturally connected curriculum.

Classroom teachers are responsible for planning and delivering curriculum in line with our whole school scope and sequence. Literacy and numeracy focus areas are embedded in all teaching and learning programs to assist in addressing gaps in student learning.

**Selection Criteria**:
Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Highly developed emotional intelligence with the skills to lead and manage a comprehensive multi-campus SSP which supports students with complex needs and backgrounds.

2. Proven ability to lead innovative school programs and activities that engage students with complex needs by fostering authentic relationships with families and external agencies, to improve outcomes for all students.

3. A highly visible leader with demonstrated expertise in building and driving staff collective efficacy and effective collaboration in a specialised learning community creating continuous improvement for every student, teacher and leader.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
