**About the Stream, Group or Branch**:
As part of the Department of Social Services (the department), the Redress Group is responsible for the administration the National Redress Scheme (the Scheme) for people who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse. The Scheme is a high priority for the Government and the department, with the ongoing commitment to continually improve outcomes for survivors.
The Scheme interacts with survivors to provide an outcome that can make a real difference in people’s lives. The Department is committed to the success of the Scheme and developing high performing staff who provide empathic, survivor focused, trauma informed support.
**Position Description**:
**The Role**
This role is responsible for completing various administrative duties. Under limited direction, you are accountable for organising your workflow and escalating risks and issues when needed. You will have exposure to sensitive material and may have exposure to difficult issues that could require liaising with a range of internal stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- complete administrative functions to support the work of the team including ensuring compliance with policy and processes
- assist with monitoring group mailboxes
- maintain knowledge of the scheme processes and contribute to continuous development
- develop and maintain stakeholder relationships
- demonstrate self-awareness and ability to self-manage in a complex, changing environment whilst in a diverse team with high workload in a high risk environment
- maintain personal development and engage in learning opportunities.
Skills, experience and ability to:
- respond flexibly to change and maintain a constructive approach to problem solving
- demonstrate judgement and common sense when solving problems and developing solutions
- demonstrate empathy and understanding and communicate effectively in a trauma informed way
- assist in building a culture that is supportive of staff and your own wellbeing
- assist in building a culture that focuses on outcomes by identifying opportunities for sharing of knowledge and improvement of processes
- communicate and follow direction provided by team leader
- manage workload effectively to meet deadlines and targets of the team.

**Eligibility / Additional Requirements**:
As part of working on the Scheme, you will be required to declare any conflicts of interest in relation to the Scheme upon commencement and then regular reviews whilst working on the Scheme.
The Redress Group is committed to the wellbeing of staff. Due to the sensitive nature of the content, a dedicated wellbeing program is available to all staff. Participation in training and wellbeing programs may be compulsory for some roles.
This recruitment process is being used to fill current and future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies. A merit pool of suitable applicants will be created which may be used to fill future vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
Non-ongoing vacancies will be offered for a period of up to 18 months with the possibility of extension (up to a total period of 3 years). Some of these non-ongoing vacancies may become ongoing in the next 18 months.
Should a position become ongoing then the merit pool established through this selection process may be used to fill the vacancy on an ongoing basis.To be eligible for employment with Department of Social Services (the department), you must be an Australian citizen. An applicant's suitability for employment with the Department will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This will include an identity and criminal history background check.
**Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance**:
The suitable applicant must also obtain and maintain a security clearance conducted by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA).
