**About the Stream, Group or Branch**:
The Property, Security and Information Management Branch forms part of the Corporate Group in the Chief Operating Officer Stream. We work closely with business areas to enable them to deliver their business outcomes. We support the Secretary, as the Accountable Authority, and the department Executive, to meet their obligations in relation to property, security, information management and business continuity.

The Property Services Section is responsible for managing the Department’s property portfolio by focusing on achieving value for money in leasing costs, providing a safe, secure and effective working environment that encompasses a flexible approach.

The Section is also responsible for the implementation of the Property Portfolio Strategy that focuses on leasing opportunities, financial efficiencies, design of office accommodation and fitouts, business continuity and emergency control.

The Regional Property Team (the Team) sits within the Property Services Section and is responsible for the State & Territory Offices that form the Departments Property Portfolio.

**Position Description**:
The Team oversees financial and procurement related activities for the property portfolio including leasing negotiations, financial budgeting, monthly invoicing, and contract management with our Property Services Provider as part of the Whole of Australian Government contract.

You would enjoy working as part of a dynamic and enthusiastic team who have a strong focus on supporting the Department, and have:

- exceptional organisation skills, ability to manage competing tasks, demonstrate initiative and think critically in a fast-paced environment
- commitment to financial management and reporting including undertaking Australian Government Property reporting and annual report input
- experience in developing and understanding financial transactions, Commonwealth Procurement rules/processes, and obligations, internal budgeting of property related activity, and the ability to maintain Excel spreadsheets
- provide strong administrative support by preparing correspondence, develop MOU templates and schedules between agencies, fitout briefs and meeting papers
- manage correspondence, provide support and answer queries with our State and Territory Offices to ensure work orders are undertaken in a timely manner
- develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal & external stakeholders, including building managers (landlords), contractors, internal staff of all levels, and property service providers

This role may involve some interstate travel and physical work on occasion.

This position is a
**12 month non-ongoing **vacancy. If transferring from another Department, please ensure this is approved prior.

**Eligibility / Additional Requirements**:
This recruitment process is being used to fill current and future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies. A merit pool of suitable applicants will be created which may be used to fill future vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.

Non-ongoing vacancies will be offered for a period of up to 18 months with the possibility of extension (up to a total period of 3 years). Some of these non-ongoing vacancies may become ongoing in the next 18 months.

Should a position become ongoing then the merit pool established through this selection process may be used to fill the vacancy on an ongoing basis.To be eligible for employment with Department of Social Services (the department), you must be an Australian citizen. An applicant's suitability for employment with the Department will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This will include an identity and criminal history background check.

**Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance**:
The suitable applicant must also obtain and maintain a security clearance conducted by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA).

Applicants also must be able to establish their background as checkable to be considered eligible for a security clearance. Any gaps or periods of time spent overseas for 12 or more months (cumulative) that cannot be verified by an Australian referee is deemed uncheckable, rendering the applicant ineligible for a security clearance. Background history must cover 5 / 10 years (Baseline / Negative Vet 1 or Negative Vet 2) of employment, education, residential, criminal history and anything else specified by the AGSVA. The suitable applicant must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information to fulfil this process.
