**The Role**
Located at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Williamtown, the Air Warfare Systems Program Office (AWSPO) leads and manages a portfolio of projects and products in support of Air Force and Navy capability.

AWSPO, in partnership with industry, deliver Lead-in-Fighter, Advanced Training and Test Environment and Special Operations Air Warfare Capabilities in support of Air Combat Group, Air Warfare Centre and Maritime Warfare Centre.

In this role, you will play a key part in providing commercial finance support and advice to project and product teams. Your responsibilities will include independent budget reviews, financial analysis and contributing to the confidence and accuracy of forecasting. This position offers the opportunity to further enhance your skills in cost analysis, business analytics, and contract evaluation while working in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

We are looking for someone who has experience in performing the following activities, or has the ability to develop these skills with training and coaching:

- Undertake cost analysis investigation tasks and functions, including (but not limited to): providing specialist costing and financial advice and guidance on financial and commercial aspects of tenders and/or contracts; examination, analysis and reporting on pricing proposals; contract pricing model development; financial risk identification and mitigation; cost of ownership modelling and cost driver analysis;
- Monitor and report financial compliance status, including legislative Breaches, Assets under Construction and Asset Capitalisation;
- Participate in commercial financial tender evaluation working groups and/or negotiations, developing timely evaluation reports as required;
- Coordinate and support budget development activities across the organisation;
- Initiate and recommend mitigation strategies for the costing of risks associated with contract management activities, supplier performance and compliance with mandatory requirements, suggesting relevant improvement;
- Provide advice, direction, assistance and services for procurement policy, commercial, financial investigation and other requirements to support contract management outcomes;
- Conduct cost assurance activities in support of improving product and project financial management practices, including improved understanding and awareness of forecasting and modelling of trends for higher delegate submissions;
- Increase financial acumen across the organisation by conducting commercial budgeting continuation training and developing initiatives, policy and applicable processes and tools; and
- Possess a high level (Advanced) of skill and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel to perform the above activities.

This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.
