**About the role**
As Business Planning Officer (Resource Recovery) you will be part of the Resource Recovery team, and will be responsible for providing professional expertise, financial and business planning advice to inform effective decision making and help shape the future direction of the Resource Recovery section that responds to Council’s and the community’s aspirations for waste management and resource recover. Your main focus will be on supporting the Senior Strategy Officer and Strategy and Business Planning Coordinator to contribute to the achievement of the Corporate and Operational Plan’s Waste Management and Resource Recovery objectives.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Develop, implement, monitor, and review the Resource Recovery Business Plan, Annual Performance Plan, and other associated plans and procedures.
- Monitor and analyse industry trends and inform the future direction of the Resource Recovery section in response to market and legislative changes that impact on the business performance.
- Identify and research business improvement opportunities and efficiency gains and align processes and practices with Council’s Resource Recovery strategies and policies.
- Provide specialist advice and support to the Strategy and Business Planning Coordinator and Senior Strategy Officer (Resource Recovery), liaising with the relevant internal and external stakeholders on the business plan, risk and audit registers, financial forecasts and analytical models, and resource planning requirements for the section.
- Establish and measure agreed outcome based KPI’s to measure the performance and efficacy of the business.
- Prepare financial, performance and business-related reports and briefings as required.
**About you**
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Bachelor's degree or qualifications in Environmental Management, Sustainability, Project Management, Business, Finance, Public Administration, or a combination of equivalent formal qualifications, and /or substantial experience.
- Extensive knowledge in the writing, review, analysis and implementation of business plans, performance plans, finance and audit statements, forecasts, and risk management plans, preferably within a local government or waste industry context.
- Demonstrated expertise and experience in working in and supporting a highly responsive and operational-based teams with a focus on business improvement processes.
- Strong analytical skills with proven organisational and time management abilities.
- Substantial knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, standards, guidelines, and best practice relating to position.

This is a full-time position with an attractive salary package of Level 6 with a starting salary of $97,134.
