About the role

The Grants Manager role requires dynamism, creativity, curiosity and drive. The Grants Manager reports to the CEO and is a critical member of the St Francis Social Services team.

In this exciting role you will have the opportunity to
- Lead innovative grants acquisition activities
- Increase your understanding of St Francis’ programs, point of difference and priorities for funding to help us grow our impact and make a difference for the people we support
- Support the Leadership Team and Communications Manager to develop, deliver and implement an effective communications strategy
- Support the Leadership Team and Communications Manager to develop brand voice, including brand and language guidelines
- Support the development of dynamic content to recruit new supporters, retain current supporters and increase financial support, including digital appeals, newsletters, releases, opinion pieces, talking points, web content, social media, briefs, etc.
- Grow and nurture new relationships between St Francis Social Services, House of Welcome and Centre 360 community with corporate partners and donors, the media and government
- Assist with major SFSS fundraising campaigns and events
- This list is not exhaustive and will be reviewed regularly to meet the changing needs of a dynamic, growing organisation.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide leadership, guidance and support in all SFSS activities relating to grant acquisition
- Commit to annual KPIs in support of the SFSS Strategic Plan and Implementation Plan
- Create, maintain and develop effective professional connections and relationships with funders and relevant external stakeholders
- Participate in relevant professional development
- Maintain a commitment to best practice and continuous quality improvement in accordance with SFSS Code of Conduct, policies and procedures, aligning team culture with SFSS values and vision
- Comply with legal obligations and mitigate risk. Maintain appropriate professional and ethical standards, operational transparency and communication pathways to enhance service delivery and empower clients. Protect the confidentiality and privacy of clients, clients’ records and all records. Inform your supervisor of any concerns, issues or difficulties as they arise
- Foster and promote staff wellbeing and a team environment consistent with the ethos of SFSS. Take care of self and others in the team.

Essential Criteria:

- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in communications, journalism, media, public relations, marketing, humanities, social policy, social work or related fields, paired with demonstrated success in researching grant opportunities, writing and obtaining grants
- Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate with a range of stakeholders and partners, exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a solid understanding of the principles of developing engaging content
- Ability to generate new ideas, solve problems and work autonomously and flexibly on an agreed agenda within timeframes and budget
- Excellent demonstrated interpersonal skills and a proven ability to contribute to a cohesive, positive and collaborative team environment
- Values-driven approach to life and work and a commitment to social justice and a willingness to support the culture and mission of SFSS. This includes a demonstrated ability to work sensitively in a culturally and linguistically diverse environment with a strong commitment to strengths-based and trauma-informed practices.

Desirable Criteria
- Experience within the not-for-profit sector as an employee or volunteer
- Demonstrated understanding of policy frameworks and issues encountered by disadvantaged young people and their families and/or refugees and people seeking asylum in Australia
- Driver’s licence
- Occasional out of hours work will be required, with time in lieu arrangements in place
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination, Working with Children Check and other security checks will be required.
