About Us
At ANZ, we're shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.
About the Role
To help meet the ESG expectations of our investors, customers and external stakeholders, and support our strategy and purpose, we have a purpose-built function. Governance is one of the pillars of this function, alongside Disclosure & Policy, Analytics & Advisory, and Social Impact & Community.
The work takes place against a background of increasingly high levels of government, regulator, investor and customer scrutiny of the Group’s ESG policies and compliance with our obligations.
Banking is changing and we’re changing with it, giving our people great opportunities to try new things, learn and grow. Whatever your role at ANZ, you’ll be building your future, while helping to build ours.
**Role Type**: Permanent, Full Time
**Role Location**: Melbourne, VIC
What will your day look like?
This role is pivotal in the operation of Group level ESG decision making forums and oversight of external ESG commitments. Responsibilities of the role include:
Managing the scope and focus of our Group-wide ESG decision making forums: currently the Board Ethics, Environment, Social and Governance (EESG) Committee, the executive Ethics and Responsible Banking Committee (ERBC) and the executive Climate and Environment Committee (CEC)
Developing committee meeting agendas, serving as committee secretary, liaising with the Company Secretary’s office, providing guidance on and review of committee papers
Collaborating with other teams, including other Board committee secretariat functions, ANZ New Zealand and Suncorp Bank to ensure an effective committee process
Supporting identification of material ESG risks and opportunities for consideration by these forums
Advising on committee governance including the scope and responsibilities of each committee
Ensuring there is appropriate oversight of existing external ESG initiatives and that all proposals for new voluntary ESG external initiatives receive appropriate Group Executive consideration
Providing guidance and support on ESG priority areas and contributing where required to other ESG governance tasks.
This role will work closely with the Head of ESG Governance, Head of ESG Reporting & Policy, Head of ESG Analytics & Advisory, and Head of Climate & Environment Strategy.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
Record of achievement in a similar or like role.
Excellent relationship skills and a record of experience working with senior management.
Excellent writing, analytical and communications skills, including the ability to understand and simplify complex matters involving different areas.
Excellent and effective management skills, including judgement and the ability to prioritise tasks and to work under pressure within various constraints.
Excellent understanding of financial services and its operating environment.
You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills. At ANZ a growth mindset is at the heart of our culture, so if you have most of these things in your toolbox, we’d love to hear from you.
So why join us?
From the moment you join ANZ, you'll be doing meaningful work that will shape a world where people and communities thrive.
But it's not just our customers who'll feel your impact. you'll feel it too. Because at ANZ, you'll have the resources, opportunities, and support you need to take the next big step in your career.
We're a diverse bunch at ANZ in different roles, different locations, doing different things. That's why we have a range of flexible working arrangements, so our people can 'make work, work for them'. We also provide a range of benefits including access to health and wellbeing services and discounts on selected products and services from ANZ and more.
