The Head of ESG drives The Lottery Corporation's ESG strategy and public disclosures. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and operationalising strategies, policies, and initiatives to embed ESG considerations into the company's operations, decision-making processes, and stakeholder engagement. You will collaborate with various teams and stakeholders to ensure best practice and compliance with ESG regulations and reporting requirements.
Key to the success of this role will be working towards delivering our overarching vision and the supporting ESG strategy, and leading the development and coordination of initiatives that continue to enhance TLC's ESG credentials. For example, providing considered advice in relation to the suitability of our customer care programs and their alignment with stakeholder and community expectations. Additionally, you will lead the reporting, measurement and communication initiatives related to the company's ESG performance, inclusive of our annual mandatory and voluntary sustainability reporting. Please note we are open to candidates in either Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne
What you'll do
ESG Strategy
- Oversee the delivery of a comprehensive ESG strategy that aligns with The Lottery Corporation's strategy and five-year plan, principles, industry standards and stakeholder expectations.
- Evaluate the execution of the strategy across the following four pillars:- Operating Responsibly
- Enabling Responsible Play
Enabling our People, and
Supporting the Community
ESG Reporting and Disclosure
- Oversee the preparation and publication of external ESG reporting, ensuring compliance with Australia's mandatory climate reporting regime and related requirements.
- Oversee a robust and well-documented framework for tracking and reporting key metrics and performance indicators.
Evaluate and implement process improvement initiatives.
Act as TLC's primary lead in the mandatory limited assurance of climate disclosures conducted by external auditors.
Stakeholder Engagement & Delivery
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Legal & Risk, Customer & Marketing, Channel, People & Culture and Corporate Affairs, to integrate ESG considerations into business operations, decision-making processes, and long-term strategic planning.
- Maintain appropriate ESG targets across divisions in accordance with the strategy. Monitor performance and effectively support the business to implement action plans to achieve the targets.
- Identify, develop and deliver programs and initiatives, in collaboration with other internal stakeholders, to deliver the ESG strategy objectives.
Ensure senior management remains informed of evolving ESG requirements and emerging trends.
Manage the contribution of consultants and external suppliers, as required.
Board Reporting
- Act as a key liaison between the organisation's ESG initiatives and the Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team. Provide regular updates to the Board, highlighting progress, risks, and opportunities. Your role is instrumental in facilitating informed decision-making at the highest level of the company, reinforcing its dedication to effectively managing ESG risks and opportunities.
Risk Management
Identify and assess ESG risks and opportunities that may impact the company's operations, reputation and financial performance.
Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and integrate ESG considerations into the company's overall risk management framework.
Communications
Work with the Investor Relations, Regulatory, People & Culture, and Corporate Communications teams to develop an integrated approach to advocate the company's ESG priorities.
Represent The Lottery Corporation in external ESG and related forums.
What you'll bring
- Experience in a senior level corporate responsibility or sustainability role.
- Degree qualified, preferably in Business, Sustainability or other relevant major.
- A positive and pragmatic can-do attitude and a commitment to ESG impact.
- Builds strong, collaborative relationships in order to achieve positive commercial outcomes; ability to advocate and influence across a range of audiences, including executive level.
- Ideally will have experience working in in ASX listed company.
Proven ability to develop strong relationships across a wide range of internal and external stakeholder groups.
Ideally have experience in 'issues rich' industries or sectors where social licence to operate is a critical consideration in achieving sustained commercial performance.
