Our SILS (Supported Independent Living Service) program provides housing and support to young people aged 15-17 who are under the Guardianship of the Minister and are ready to transition from 24/7 care to greater independence.

We are seeking a highly motivated leader to join the SILS Homelessness and Housing team on a** full-time** basis. This position is primarily located at our **Mansfield Park **site.

Reporting to the Social Inclusion Manager, you will be responsible for providing effective leadership, and working collaboratively with the SILS team to achieve positive outcomes for young people. You will provide direct service and supports to young people to increase their independent skills, create plans, foster community engagement, and ensure their successful transition to independent living with post-transition support. The day-to-day activities will include:

- Building and promoting a positive and thriving community living facility that supports the young people in residence to develop effective living skills and build their independence.
- Leading and managing a team of community support workers, providing guidance, support, and supervision.
- Ensuring support workers develop and facilitate activities that promote effective independent living skills. Regularly monitoring each young person’s progress towards their identified goals and advocate on behalf of and/or for the young person as required.
- Collaborating with team members to identify and address community needs, implementing strategies to promote positive change.
- Establishing positive and creative connections with partners and stakeholders to build the capacity of the young people in engaging with their local community.

**About You...**
- Experience facilitating, and contributing to the development of, group programs and development activities for young people.
- Demonstrated capacity to understand and work with young people within a therapeutic living environment.
- Interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiation skills along with the initiative to identify innovative and lateral solutions.
- Strong engagement skills and ability to interact effectively and sensitively with young people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to write timely and accurate case notes and reports.

- Empathy and compassion, and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact in the community.

**For this role, you will need to**:

- Hold a minimum bachelor’s degree in psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or other allied health, or currently working towards a degree.
- Be willing a Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
- Be eligible to work in Australia.
- Hold and maintain an approved First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Be prepared to undergo a Psychological Assessment.
- Have possession of a current valid Driver’s License, willingness to drive.
- Hold and maintain Safe Environments for Children and Young People Certificate.
- Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours on-call roster is required.
