**As the Manager (Policy) you will**:

- Build and maintain cohesive and functional relationships across Local Government Division to deliver the shared objectives of the Division and promote a 'one LGD' environment.
- Day-to-day management of the Policy and Legislation team including developing staff, managing priorities and building a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and responsibility.
- Manage a highly skilled team in the delivery of a significant, diverse and complex legislation program.
- Manage the preparation and coordination of complex written material for Cabinet, Parliament and Executive Council as well as the Deputy Premier, Director-General and senior executives.
- Work strategically with the Director, Policy and Legislation Team by giving expert advice and support in the delivery of the department's legislation program.
- Promote good governance and practices, foster professionalism and integrity, and facilitate business improvement.
- Monitor performance of local governments to enable evidence-based well-targeted strategies and programs
- Provide high level support and strategic advice to the Director, Executive Director and Deputy Director General on complex strategic and emerging issues in relation to local government capacity building and governance
- Represent and promote the Department at senior government forums, working groups and contribute to whole-of-government initiatives
- Manage the coordination of responses to correspondence, briefs, submissions and ministerial requests, including providing advice in relation to the Department's programs to the Minister, Director General and Deputy Director General.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the Department's corporate values and foster an environment of strong customer service, teamwork, open communication, leadership and innovation.
