Your key responsibilities:

  • Apply significant policy experience to lead, manage and support complex public health regulatory policy and legislative improvement projects, to ensure public health portfolio legislation is informed by regulatory practice and meets the needs of the community.
  • Conduct evidence-based research and critically analyse complex information from various disciplines and stakeholders to develop specific regulatory policy and legislative improvement recommendations that are capable of being implemented and achieve successful outcomes.
  • Ensure effective communication, integration, coordination and liaison occurs in relation to the development of public health regulatory policy and legislative improvement proposals within Queensland Health and with external stakeholders as appropriate.

Role fit:

  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in regulatory policy development and legislative improvement projects and initiatives within government.
  • Proven ability to develop contemporary, evidence-based policy documents (including reports, submissions, briefing notes, agenda papers, legislative proposals), for stakeholder engagement, communication and legislative purposes.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with proven experience in effectively engaging with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels, including the ability to build effective relationships, influence stakeholders and represent the departments interest in interjurisdictional and state-wide committees and forums.
