**Why your Role Matters**:
The HRIS SME and Security Lead is a dual role that includes the responsibility of owning the security of UNSW’s HR System, ensuring that all security configurations, processes, and protocols are designed, implemented, and continuously managed to ensure that HR Data is secured and accessible according to UNSW Policies and industry standards. They are the key intermediary between business end-users and UNSW IT to ensure that processes, systems, security and controls meet business requirements. The HRIS SME and Security Lead is accountable for designing, implementing, and maintaining the security and controls for UNSW’s HR Systems.
As an HRIS SME, they are also accountable for analysing and defining business requirements and functionalities of HR systems. This includes owning, designing and maintaining the HR System’s security solution, system user configuration, as well the business processes and governance around security administration.
The role of HRIS SME and Security Lead reports to the Head of HR Systems, Human Resources and has no direct reports.
**Responsibilities**:
- Act as primary custodian for the security of UNSW’s HR System, with full accountability for the design, implementation, and continuous oversight of all security configurations, processes, and protocols, ensuring that HR data is safeguarded in strict alignment with UNSW policies and industry standards.
- Lead the development of security strategies, proactively addressing risks and vulnerabilities while ensuring compliance with industry best practices and organisational requirements to ensure that UNSW HR Systems are maintained securely and that only authorised users have correct level of access to our systems.
- Act as the responsible guardian of the UNSW HR System’s user access and provisioning, ensuring strict compliance with UNSW Cyber Security and Governance policies. Lead efforts to align access controls with security frameworks, proactively driving continuous improvement and accountability across all user management processes.
- Provide expertise to ensure robust governance frameworks are established and adhered to, guaranteeing that end-user access provisioning is handled with precision. Ensure that all access requests and inquiries are addressed promptly and in alignment with organisational priorities, driving efficiency and accountability across the access management process.
- Partner with stakeholders (such as HR Solutions, IT Service Centre and the wider HR Systems teams) to take a lead role in the design of security configuration to ensure effective and appropriate controls are in place for every project or HR Systems change that is implemented.
- Act as the owner of the PeopleSoft HR query tree and department security tree actively managing the configuration and administration of the trees and providing expertise and guidance to ensure any proposed updates do not adversely impact on security and/or reporting.
- Lead the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) process by developing, managing and actively participating in UAT to ensure that any HR systems changes/enhancements are appropriately tested and that the HR System security is not compromised and that security protocols are upheld, safeguarding the HR system from potential risks or vulnerabilities.
**Skills and Experience**:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Significant professional experience in business process / functional analysis, design or support, or equivalent business experience.
- Ability to quickly grasp concepts and a high-level competency in resolving complex systems and process improvement problems.
- Experience and thorough understanding of project management methods and all aspects of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Ability and demonstrated experience using relational databases, data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities
