As a market leading global brand our external communications are integral to building and maintaining our reputation. An exciting opportunity has become available for an External Communications Specialist to join our growing Impact and Corporate Relations team. As a team, you will be responsible for building awareness of the positive impact of McDonald’s with a key focus on continuously advancing and protecting the company’s reputation as well as building trust with our stakeholders.
In this dynamic new role, you will support in the development of proactive and positive integrated corporate relations strategies to drive reputation and awareness of McDonald’s impact and growth stories (including Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia). Based between our Thornleigh and CBD office and home, this flexible opportunity calls for an agile Communications professional with an enthusiasm for our brand.
**What are the main focus points of the role?**
- Developing and delivering a proactive local storytelling calendar to support McDonald’s Australia and Franchisees
- Managing Impact and Corporate Relations Calendars
- Providing communications support and guidance to business functions
- Assisting in the management of McDonald’s PR agency
- Managing media and influencer lists
- Developing and distributing press materials, key messages, Q&A documents
- Building and maintaining relationships with journalists, online influencers and key internal stakeholders
- Maintaining Impact and Corporate Relations Team Measurement and Reporting
- Proactively identifying issues and trends of business importance in the media and effectively communicating with relevant departments
**Qualifications**
**What skills do I need to be successful in the role?**
- Experience delivering external communications outcomes for a matrix organisation
- Experience working with journalists and media outlets
- Strong writing skills and highly organised
- Self-motivated and a client centric mindset
- Curious and resilient, not afraid to ask questions
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills, suited to a fast-paced environment
- Ideally a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
