- Newly created national role within the Aon Self-Insurance team
- Based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Newcastle, you will be joining a high performing national Workplace Risk team
- Position will suit someone with experience in self-insurance, gained with a broker, self-insurer or third-party administrator. The role may also suit someone with strong workers’ compensation consulting/broking background

**The Opportunity**:
Our Workplace Risk practice focuses on the provision of Consulting and Advisory services to our portfolio of valued corporate clients. Our Workplace Risk service offering continues to evolve as the workers’ compensation landscape changes and our clients seek greater innovation in People Risk.
Aon represent and advise over one third of all self-insurers nationally and are regarded as a market leader in Self-Insurance solutions. Due to the increased cost pressures on business and the deteriorating scheme performance in some jurisdictions, the demand for improved efficiency and innovation around workers’ compensation, is increasing to unprecedented levels. Self-insurance is fast becoming a major growth strategy for Aon and we are expanding our Self-insurance team to meet the current demand.
Reporting to the Self-Insurance Leader, you will be accountable for providing advice and guidance to aspiring and existing self-insurers, across both State and Comcare schemes.
**Key responsibilities will include**:
- Preparing financial feasibility studies with the support of Aon’s actuarial team
- Advising aspiring self-insurers on the eligibility requirements to self-insure in the State schemes
- Advising, assessing and articulating the business case to becoming a self-insurer, compared to being traditionally insured
- Provide best in class solutions to our existing self-insured clients, including liability reduction strategies, alternative security options, reinsurance and benchmarking of self-insurers’ performance
- Advising our existing self-insurers on Diversification and Acquisition implications on their licence and liabilities
**About you**:
- A passion for self-insurance and proven experience in assisting employers’ transition to self-insurance, or experience in working for a self-insurer.
- Strong analytical skills as they relate to self-insurance financial management
- Excellent networking and relationship management skills allowing you to be a prominent member of the workers’ compensation community
- Ability to collaborate effectively with and influence a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
- Self-discipline and organisational skills, with a motivation to work to tight deadlines
- Experience managing complex commercial / corporate clients
