Worker Compensation Manager
Our client is seeking an experienced Workers Compensation Manager to lead the delivery of workers compensation and claims management strategies across their NSW operations. With a workforce of approximately 1,500 employees and multiple sites across Sydney and regional NSW, this role offers a significant opportunity to influence outcomes, strengthen systems, and deliver meaningful results for injured workers and the business alike.
About the Role
The Workers Compensation Manager will:
- Lead the end-to-end management of workers compensation claims across NSW, ensuring accurate, fair and timely outcomes.
- Partner closely with the external claims provider to drive proactive injury management and return to work strategies.
- Build strong relationships with insurers, brokers, rehabilitation providers and legal advisors to achieve optimal outcomes and cost control.
- Analyse injury and claim trends, identify emerging risks, and develop targeted strategies to reduce claim frequency and costs.
- Provide regular insights and strategic reporting to senior leadership on claim performance, trends and financial impacts.
- Coach and upskill managers and supervisors to strengthen their understanding of injury management and workers compensation responsibilities.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance systems, culture and accountability in managing workplace injuries.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must bring significant internal experience managing workers compensation within a commercial business environment.
Candidates who also have prior external insurer or provider experience will be highly regarded — however, recent internal corporate experience is essential.
You will also demonstrate:
- Strong technical expertise in NSW workers compensation and injury management legislation.
- Proven ability to manage complex claims across diverse operational environments and multiple sites.
- Experience developing and implementing strategies that improve return to work outcomes and reduce claim costs.
- Excellent communication, leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust across all levels of the organisation.
- A professional, empathetic and solutions-focused approach to supporting injured workers and operational leaders.
The Opportunity
This is a highly visible leadership role within a respected and values-driven organisation that places strong emphasis on the health, safety and wellbeing of its people. You will have the opportunity to shape strategy, influence outcomes and make a lasting impact across a large, diverse workforce.
- Well-established, stable organisation with a strong safety culture
- Hybrid working arrangements and genuine work-life balance
- Competitive salary and professional growth opportunities
Candidates must hold full Australian working rights to be considered.
