Byron Shire Council is currently seeking an enthusiastic Sustainability Team Leader. The position plays a key role in leading and co-ordinating the staff and activities of the Sustainability Team to successfully deliver sustainability policies, programs and emissions reduction projects, as well as developing, implementing and driving the strategies to ensure Byron Shire Council reaches its net zero targets.
Some specific tasks include:
- Enhancing Council’s focus on emission reduction and position Council as a leader and a strong advocate for the community.
- Facilitating the Climate Change and Resource Recovery Advisory Committee to provide communication and prioritisation of strategies as identified in the Net Zero Emissions Action Plan 2025.
- Enhancing Council’s focus on climate change adaptation and implement the Climate Change Adaptation Plan.

This position is based at Mullumbimby, however Council can require you to work from other work sites as required for operational reasons.
