**We are looking for**:
Byron Shire Council is currently seeking an Agricultural Extension Officer. The position encourages and promotes best practice, sustainable primary production in the Byron Shire with an aim to maximize food security and environmental resilience. The role will include providing extension services to farmers, landholder education and delivery of on-ground sustainable agriculture projects
**About you**:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or extensive experience in agriculture, rural science or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in community and landholder engagement and education.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the concepts of sustainable agriculture, regenerative agriculture, carbon farming and associated practices.
- Understanding of agricultural activities and associated environmental and social pressures in the Byron Shire.

- Salary and Conditions will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award with an appointment at a salary in the range of $1,310.30 to $1,518.18 per 35 hour week (dependent upon skills and experience)

**Location**:
This position is based at Mullumbimby, however Council can require you to work from other work sites as required for operational reasons.
