The primary purpose of the Weed Management Coordinator position is to coordinate the implementation of the Bendigo Line Weed Action Plan.

The primary purpose of the Weed Management Coordinator position is to coordinate the implementation of the Bendigo Line Weed Action Plan.

The role will assist in reducing the environmental and legislative risks associated with flora and fauna management within the rail reserve, ensuring rail complies with legislation such as the _Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act _and _Environment Protection Act, Biodiversity Conservation Act _and _Catchment and Land Protection Act_.

To achieve this purpose the Weed Management Coordinator will be responsible for the following;
- Coordinate the provision of environmental approvals/planning permits required to implement the Weed Action Plan
- Develop a 12-month program of works that considers priority weed species and sites, timing, and treatments, as per the Bendigo Weed Action Plan
- Liaise and consult with internal and external stakeholders on delivery of the Weed Action Plan
- Source, engage and monitor contractor performance and progress on delivery of the Weed Action Plan
- Monitor the overall success of the Weed Action Plan.
- Improve, update, and maintain rails information on vegetation within the reserve

This position is responsible for providing staff a safe workplace where risks are identified, understood, and managed and a safe environment for customers and visitors is maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

- Environmental approvals and planning: _
- Coordinate the provision of environmental approvals/planning permits required to implement the Bendigo Weed Action Plan
- Coordinate the preparation of FFG and EPBC referrals for works that are likely to significantly impact on protected flora or fauna
- Assess complementary weed management actions arising from task requests.
- Manage interface between Weed Action Plan and internal/external stakeholders: _
- Liaise and consult with external stakeholders (including Agriculture Victoria/ Landcare and other weed focused community groups or action groups) on the Weed Action Plan and other weed management issues where required
- Tertiary qualifications in Ecology, Botany, Natural Resource Management, or related discipline desirable
- Demonstrable experience in program or contract management relating to bushland or reserve management.
