**About the role - 12 month fixed-term contract**

The Senior Manager Strategic Risk is responsible for the development, implementation and management of the frameworks governing the bank’s strategic risks in Rabobank Region Australia New Zealand (RANZ), including Sustainability risks. This involves setting the bank’s strategic direction in the management of strategic risks and the governance thereof.

The role is a primary point of contact within the region on Strategic Risk and Sustainability matters
- and is a centre-of-excellence with regard to these risks. This includes providing expertise and advise to the business, management and Boards. It is also responsible for managing the relationship with Rabobank Group and the Wholesale & Rural division on this risk and for representing the bank externally.

This is a dedicated second line of responsibility role within the Risk Management division, independent from the Bank’s commercial business lines and support functions. The role partners with the Strategy, Sustainability and Finance functions, and with commercial leaders, in developing an integrated approach to Strategic risk and Sustainability issues across the Bank that considers commercial and risk management outcomes.

**Some of the key responsibilities include**:

- Leading the development and continued evolution of regional strategies and roadmaps with regard to the Bank’s approach to Strategic Risk and Sustainability.
- Leading the identification and assessment of Strategic Risk and Sustainability related risks including the use of scenario analysis to assess the resilience of the Bank’s business model.
- Establishing and maintaining a clear, effective and efficient framework for the management of Strategic Risk matters that integrates consideration of this risk into the Bank’s existing risk management framework.
- Monitoring external developments pertaining to Strategic Risk and Sustainability matters relevant to the Bank, communicating these to management and translating (new) external requirements into the Bank’s frameworks and policy documents if and when required.
- Acting as a centre-of-excellence regarding Strategic Risk and Sustainability matters, including providing expertise and advice, for senior management of the Bank, the Board, other Risk Management departments, Compliance, RaboResearch and other stakeholders.
Proactively engaging with Rabobank Group and Wholesale & Rural functions, and with other regions,
- Providing challenge and oversight of first line risk management activities as pertaining to Strategic Risk, including framework implementation, adherence to policies, and effectiveness of controls.

**To be successful you will have**
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline with relevant postgraduate and/or professional qualifications (desirable)
- Professional experience in the financial, corporate and/or professional services sector
Experience within Strategic Risk and/or Sustainability risk management, strategy and governance in a financial/corporate sector context
- Experience engaging with regulators, supervisory bodies and industry association
- In-depth knowledge of Strategic Risk and/or Sustainability matters
- In-depth understanding of the regulatory and legislative environment around Strategic Risk and/or Sustainability
- Broad understanding of the banking industry and associated regulatory environment in Australia and New Zealand
