About the role
This role provides social work assessment and interventions as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to consumers 65 years and older who experience mental health issues and their families/carers to optimise consumer outcomes.
The Older Person Mental Health Inpatient unit is situated on the Ipswich Hospital campus and within the Community and Acute Services arm of Mental Health and Specialised Services functions as part of an integrated model of service. The Older Persons Mental Health Unit has a 16-bed capacity and provides both acute and extended treatment for people over the age of 65 diagnosed with mental illness.
The care delivery team is multidisciplinary and includes nursing, medical, social worker, occupational therapist, psychology and a consumer workforce. The IMHS works collaboratively with community mental health services and main stream health care services to ensure best outcome for consumers and their families.
About you
- Demonstrated ability to provide consumer focussed social work specific, as well as interdisciplinary clinical services including assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation in the context of an older person's inpatient setting.
- Demonstrated ability to assist and understand the needs of other team members and communicate with all team members appropriately. This is inclusive of the demonstrated ability to promote a learning environment within the team and contribute to the learning of others through a willingness to share information with others.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills, providing clients, families and stakeholders with a professional and flexible service that meets their needs.
- Demonstrated effective self-management skills in relation to strong time management, documentation, prioritisation and delegation to achieve deadlines.

**Mandatory Requirements**:

- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Vaccinated against COVID-19 as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO.12/21and the Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
