**Job Description**:
Menzies Health Institute Queensland (MHIQ) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Research Assistant to join our Improving Health Outcomes for people with cancer) (ihop) Program of research within the Healthy Lifestyles Group and Healthcare Practice and Survivorship stream.

The position will provide administrative assistance to the Director, Professor Sandi Hayes, and senior staff members. The position will contribute to research group activities and provide research support and clinical expertise in a Phase III Clinical Trial and ensure high quality research outcomes. The Clinical Trial is evaluating the effect of an exercise and dietary intervention versus usual care in Queensland women with metastatic breast cancer.

As a Research Assistant, your main responsibilities will include:

- Undertaking delivery of exercise interventions, including individualised exercise prescription to meet research intervention targets.
- Conducting field work and experimental research, specifically in the area of cancer survivorship and rehabilitation.
- Assisting with research duties such as data collection, data entry and preliminary analysis of data, drafting reports and scholarly articles in accordance with research protocols.
- Undertaking literature searches, conducting qualitative interviews, and routine scientific testing.
- Coordinating meetings between researchers and external participants as required.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and University policies and procedures, including research ethics, equity, health & safety, laboratory standards, and exhibit good practice in relation to the same.

**What we can offer**

This is a fixed term (6-months), full time position and is primarily based at the Griffith University Nathan campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.

This role has the potential to extend beyond the initial 6-month period or move into postgraduate research in cancer survivorship.

The full time equivalent base salary will be RA1 Grade 1 range $70,229 - $74,275 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $82,167 - $86,901 per annum.

**Qualifications**:
The successful applicant will have a Bachelor degree with Honors or an equivalent combination of qualifications and/or experience.

The successful applicant must have completed a relevant tertiary qualification in Exercise Science and hold appropriate Registration with Exercise Sports and Science Australia (Accredited Exercise Physiologist) as well as previous working experience as a practising AEP.

The occupant must also have a current First Aid/CPR Certificate.

- Experience in delivering exercise advice and support to cancer patients or other chronic disease population.

Essential:

- Experience in delivering exercise advice and support to chronic disease populations.
- Experience in research assistant activities, such as conducting data collection, participant recruitment, data entry, literature searches, liaising with participants, etc.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently as required.
- Knowledge of research ethics, equity, health & safety, and laboratory standards.
