The Australian Research Centre for Human Evolution (ARCHE) is a world leader in research and education on all aspects of human evolutionary studies. We provide a dynamic and cooperative research environment that seeks to understand how humans and their societies across the globe evolved over time. We emphasise the study of the biological and cultural evolution of humans and our place in the natural world.

As a Research Fellow, you’ll take on complex local and global challenges, using your skills and experience to advance palaeontology and drive meaningful change. Here’s how you’ll make it matter:

- You will conduct and lead research using strontium isotope analysis that contributes to the research objectives of Julien Louys’s ARC-funded Discovery Project Human Use of Early Tropical Forest Ecosystems.
- Assume responsibility for analysing biological, sedimentological, and palaeontological geochemical analyses.
- Provide expertise in geological and isoscape mapping and visualisation.
- Assist in the supervision of Higher Degree Research and undergraduate students as required.
- Maintain a good publication record in high impact, international, esteemed peer
- reviewed journals and to seek competitive funding.
- This is a full time, fixed term (22 months) position and will be primarily based at the Griffith University Nathan campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations._
- Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples._

**Salary Range**
The full time equivalent base salary will be Research Fellow, Grade 1 range $84,830 - $99,367 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $99,251 - $116,259 per annum.

You will also have:

- A PhD and suitable lab experience in geochemistry or related geological disciplines
- A record of peer-reviewed publications
- Experience with ArcGIS or similar mapping programs
- Experience in archaeological field work and/or museum work on faunal, botanical, and geological collections
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with proficiency in written and oral English
