**Job Description**:
We are looking for a research assistant that will be supporting our newly established team in the day-to-day laboratory experiments and looking to grow into a lab manager role. Our highly collaborative team at GRIDD is working on developing innovative approaches to better understand human diseases and find bioactive compounds with therapeutic potential.

For this, one of our approaches is to generate zebrafish animal models recapitulating human conditions such as neurological diseases. We then work on investigating the underlying pathogenic mechanisms and establish drug screening campaigns for the search of new therapeutics. We are also running assays and toxicology tests for both external academic collaborators and the industry.

**What we can offer**
This is a 2-year fixed term (with the possibility for extension), full time position and is primarily based at the Griffith University Nathan campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.

The base salary for a Research Assistant 1 (RA Level 1) ranges from $66,885 - $70,738 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $78,255 - $82,763 per annum.
The base salary for a Research Assistant 2 (RA Level 2) ranges from $74,586 - $78,437per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $87,265 - $91,771 per annum.

**Qualifications**:
You must have a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree or equivalent and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Experiences in the below areas are essential:

- Very high level of organisation
- Molecular biology including state-of-the-art cloning approaches, digestion, gel extraction, transformation and mini/maxiprep
- DNA and RNA extraction
- Demonstrated capacity to work independently
- Strong ability to consistently summarise results and keep lab records up to date
- Experience with animal models (zebrafish ideally)
- Experience with transgenesis and/or CRISPR/Cas9 technology would be ideal but not mandatory
- Experience in microscopy (Confocal, spinning disk, calcium imaging)
