**About the Role**
Reporting to Murrup Barak’s Team Leader Indigenous Student Success, you will work closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to provide support, advice, and referral services. In addition, you will support the Student Success Team in the development and implementation of events and strategies for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Contributing to the development and planning of projects and strategies that produce optimal outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled at the University of Melbourne.
- Coordinating Murrup Barak’s student enrichment activities and effectively implementing programs that seek to engage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
- Managing ongoing student enquiries, making necessary referrals, providing advocacy, and implementing support strategies.
- Ensuring support strategies are culturally appropriate and referrals are made to local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander services.
**Who we are looking for**
We’re looking for innovators to join our supportive team and work on solutions to problems in a complex and dynamic environment. You will be able to utilise your strong interpersonal skills to work and engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and take initiative to roll out innovating programs designed to increase student participation.
You will also have:
- Completion of a degree or equivalent combination of relevant training and subsequent employment experience.
- Relevant knowledge and understanding of the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and demonstrated understanding of the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation and engagement in education.
- Experience in planning, developing, and implementing events and activities designed for student engagement. Proven ability to provide reports on the progress of activities.
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of case management and student services with the ability to provide progress reports.
