- Student and Scholarly Services provides student administration and services from recruitment and point of enquiry to graduation. This team also delivers wellbeing and scholarly services to students and staff._
**About the Role**
As an Indigenous Student Support Officer at the University of Melbourne's Murrup Barak, you'll be at the forefront of empowering Indigenous students throughout their academic journey. You'll have the opportunity to provide crucial pastoral care, develop engaging cultural programs, and contribute to strategies that enhance Indigenous student success. Your role will directly impact the university experience and outcomes of Indigenous students, making this a key position for those passionate about Indigenous education and cultural support in higher education.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide Student Support: Manage ongoing student enquiries, provide advocacy, and implement culturally appropriate support strategies.
- Coordinate Enrichment Activities: Develop and implement programs that engage Indigenous students and enhance their university experience.
- Facilitate Cultural Events: Co-lead significant events such as Indigenous Graduation and Dhumbali Orientation.
- Liaise with Stakeholders: Communicate with various university departments and external partners to ensure comprehensive support for Indigenous students.
- Fosters a supportive and culturally safe environment to empower Indigenous students throughout their university journey._
**About You**
You are a dedicated professional with a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, strong interpersonal skills, and a passion for supporting Indigenous students in their higher education journey.
You will also have:
- A degree or equivalent combination of relevant training and employment experience.
- Relevant knowledge and understanding of the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and demonstrated understanding of the importance of Indigenous participation and engagement in education.
- Experience in planning, developing, implementing events and activities designed for student engagement. Proven ability to provide reports on progress of activities.
- Demonstrated expertise in case management and student support services, including the capacity to track and report on student progress.
