**Your new company**

This high-profile Federal Government Department is seeking an APS5 Policy Officer to join one of their branches due to a staff member on extended leave. The branch considers broadband policy including longer term broadband objectives, upgrades, broadband planning frameworks and regulatory issues and strategy, governance and finance.

**Your new role**

You can expect to be briefing the senior executive and the Minister, researching issues and contributing to improving policy and legislation surrounding Australia’s telecommunications sector. You could assist with the development and review of policy advice on a range of issues in this sector, including drafting policy papers, and cabinet submissions.

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

- Conducting research and developments.
- Analysing research results and presenting findings in written reports to inform future workstreams.
- Reviewing information in from and providing a summary of information and analysis, identifying further items required.
- Assisting in the panning and coordination of stakeholder meetings whilst observing and participating in the meetings.

**What you'll need to succeed**

To be successful in this position, you will have previous experience in a similar position and the Federal Government. You will also have good judgement and the ability to identify and resolve issues through research and analysis, strong organisation skills and initiative, excellent communication skills both written and verbally, the ability to develop good relationships in the government and industry and be responsive to priority work.

To be considered for this role, you will need to be an Australian citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance at the Baseline level or higher.
