**The Opportunity**:
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Service Level 6 Emergency Management Advisor within Security Operations Branch. This role is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual to contribute to a high-performing, practical and strategically aligned security function.

You will play a key part in supporting security objectives through expert advice, effectively delivering physical lockdown and evacuation exercises and strong stakeholder engagement. You will be trusted to manage sensitive issues, drive business improvement initiatives and lead key components of our operational security responsibilities.

This position requires sound judgement, solid organisational and planning skills, with the ability to work independently while contributing to broader team and organisational objectives. You will be required to occasionally work outside normal business hours.

**Who we are looking for**:
To succeed in this role, you will:

- Plan, coordinate and deliver physical lockdown and evacuation exercises
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including planning exercises and managing sensitivity with professionalism
- Lead by example and contribute to team cohesion, setting priorities and maintaining high standards of service delivery
- Provide accurate and timely advice, prepare briefings, procedural documentation and reporting on security matters to support informed decision-making
- Conduct internal audits, risk assessments and assurance activities to identify areas for improvement and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Stay adaptable and solutions-focused while supporting operational and organisational needs

**Job Specific Requirements**
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.

**Immediate supervisor**:Assistant Director, Security Delivery and Capability

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 6 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives, to facilitate multi-agency emergency preparedness exercises.
- Prepare briefs, internal communications, policies & procedures, after-action reviews and other relevant documents in line APH Emergency Management Governance frameworks.
- Ensure the delivery of quality results, including the development of specialist professional and/or technical expertise. Conduct regular quality assurance of processes and manage identified risks.
- Maintain awareness of longer-term strategic and operational objectives in alignment with Emergency and Security Governance arrangements.
- Provide specialist expertise and technical knowledge in Emergency Management across a range of programs and platforms including training, preparedness and physical security.
- Employees of DPS are required to be able, and to be seen to be able, to provide professional advice and services to all Senators and Members without favour or prejudice._
