**The Role**
Working in the Directorate of Policing & Security - Navy (DPS-N) as an APS 6 Lead Security Advisor, you will lead a team that assures the security of Navy’s future capabilities and platforms. Your mission is to critically examine Navy acquisition projects and provide the Chief of Navy (CN) assurance that they achieve the required security criteria.

Your team will ensure future Navy capabilities have a pathway to achieve security accreditation through the Navy’s Seaworthiness Management System and One Defence Capability System. You will also be instrumental in examining future and emerging methodologies and technologies and their applicability to security in the maritime domain along with more contemporaneous security activities.

Some of the key duties of this role are:

- Developing Security Assurance Statements for all Navy Integrated Investment Plan (IIP) projects at appropriate points as they progress through the Capability Life Cycle.
- Identify and engage Navy Future Capability Projects and provide them with expert protective security advice from the initial design phase to through to build and delivery.
- Reviewing emerging technologies and security trends and determine security implications across the maritime domain.
- Provision of timely and quality advice to senior ADF officers and SES. personnel.
- Managing DPS-N security projects.

**About our Team**
Based in Canberra, you will be part of a blended team consisting of ADF and APS. Your team will examine the latest and emerging military platforms and systems across the maritime domain. You will play a vital role in ensuring that Navy’s future platforms, capabilities and sensitive technologies are delivered uncompromised with a superior level of security assurance.

Working to the Director of Policing and Security - Navy (DPS-N), the role is part of a team providing strategic level advice on policing and security matters. The Future Capabilities Team is a dynamic subset of DPS-N roles and responsibilities.

To succeed in this role, applicants will be required to demonstrate:

- Experience leading a team.
- Experience working in a protective security and/or risk management environment.
- Detailed knowledge of the Protective Security Principals Framework (PSPF) and Defence Security Principals Framework (DSPF).
- Knowledge of ASIO protective security guidelines and their relevance within the Defence environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to influence and build relationships with a network of stakeholders.
- The ability to undertake and deliver security risk assessments.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a secure workplace and to handle sensitive matters discreetly.
- The ability to resolve complex problems and exercise sound judgement.
- Ability to operate under limited guidance.
