The Position

The Senior Advisor Public Affairs plays a critical role in supporting CEA Technologies’ strategic external communications and stakeholder engagement. Reporting to the Chief of Staff and Manager Public Affairs, this position is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering high-profile public engagement initiatives — including major trade shows, industry conferences, sponsorships, and award submissions — to elevate CEA’s profile and strengthen its brand positioning.

The role will also support in the development and implementation of a range of communications activities including internal and external reporting, submission writing, digital content production, photography and videography, website design and maintenance, social media strategy, graphic design, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring consistency with CEA’s external communication strategy as a Government Business Enterprise (GBE).

Key responsibilities

External Events, Trade Shows & Sponsorships

- Lead the planning and coordination of CEA’s presence at key defence and industry events including domestic and international trade shows, conferences and exhibitions.

- Coordinate stakeholder meetings and representational opportunities during events in consultation with senior leaders and executives.

- Manage and grow CEA’s strategic sponsorship and partnership portfolio across Defence, education, engineering and industry sectors.

External Awards & Promotional Activities

- Manage CEA’s corporate external award submissions and campaigns, ensuring recognition of organisational achievements and individual contributions across the business.

- Administer branded merchandise for internal and external use.

Communications & Media Support

- Develop media materials including press releases, talking points, articles, and speeches.

- Assist in the preparation of content for the external website, executive communication, and other strategic publications.

- Contribute to the implementation of media engagement activities and public messaging.

- Provide coordination and support for media events and visits.

- Plan, shoot and edit high-quality photos and videos for various platforms such as website, internal communications, social media, external events and other digital channels.

- Maintain a central library of photographs and videos.

- Assist in development and execution of company social media strategy.

Stakeholder Engagement

- Coordinate external communication efforts in alignment with CEA’s strategic public affairs and reputation management objectives.

Brand and Style Compliance

- Support consistent application of the CEA brand and visual identity across all public-facing materials, events and collateral.

- Liaise with internal stakeholders and the Strategic Communication team to ensure integration across external and internal communication channels.

Team Support & Administration

- Provide day-to-day support to the Manager Public Affairs in delivering the external aspects of the Communication Strategy, projects and reporting.

- Assist in media monitoring, reporting, and insights for Executive awareness.

- Undertake additional communications or stakeholder engagement duties as directed.

About You

- Demonstrated depth of experience in long form writing and editorial skills

- Proficiency in photography, videography, and editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud).

- Ability to develop and implement comprehensive media and communication strategies.

- Strong understanding of social media platforms, digital trends, and content management systems.

- Ability to work autonomously with limited direction.

- Ability to undertake extensive research of a variety of topics, consolidating evidence into supporting arguments.

- Demonstrated understanding of the media landscape and relevant industry trends.

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field is highly desirable, or demonstrated equivalent experience.

- An understanding of defence industry, military environment or similar would be advantageous

- Eligible to obtain and maintain an AGSVA clearance – Negative Vetting 2.
