About the Role
This role will lead the build and management of complex infrastructure, operational processes, and infrastructure automation, while creating and improving automation and operational capabilities, including disaster recovery, high systems availability, on-demand scalable solutions, infrastructure monitoring and continuous deployment capabilities. The Principal Platform Specialist will have involvement with a range of technologies within Private and Hybrid Cloud, including (but not limited to) Compute, Hypervisors, Storage, Data Protection and Networking. They will be responsible for driving the ongoing automation of these technologies and developing strategies and roadmaps for Datacom Cloud that align with Datacom Group strategy
What you’ll bring
- Advanced certification in multiple technologies relevant to the Datacom Cloud. E.g VMWare VCAP, Dell storage or compute or Cisco UCS or routing and switching - This is essential
- Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for anticipating, recognising, managing, and resolving automation problems
- Knowledge of industry wide cloud platform technology strategies and best practices
- Strong financial management practices with a clear understanding of the relationship between costs, utilisation and project revenue.
- Strong business acumen
- Ability to manage complex issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
- Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

**Responsibilities**:

- Draft and maintain design documentation, implementation plans, test plans, and support procedures
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Datacom to produce a single cloud vision and value proposition
- Provide expert advice and guidance to other technology teams, business stakeholders and customers to deliver on both the short and longer term goals of Datacom
- Provide support to other operations teams as required to deliver an outstanding customer experience
- Lead process improvement initiatives across all Operations teams.
- Be part of an effective team that works collaboratively toward achieving the organisation’s goals
- Build and maintain a strong, constructive working relationship with staff, focussed on achieving business goals and enabling their staff to work safely to their full potential
- Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement to build a culture of service excellence and demonstrates new ways of working
