About the Role
SSI is delivering a national program called Train, Engage, Connect and Support (TECS), working collaboratively with faith and community leaders, the family, domestic and sexual violence sector and people with lived experience to develop culturally tailored training resources that resonate with diverse communities and faith traditions. The TECS project complements other local and national campaigns, awareness raising and educational activities.
Working closely with the Program Manager (DFSV Capacity Building Specialist) and in coordination with a wide range of stakeholders, this role will be responsible for project planning and implementation, and contributing to the evidence base on effective approaches to DFSV prevention and response with migrant and refugee communities. The role will also develop and implement capacity building strategies, models and initiatives grounded in engagement and collaboration, and aimed at addressing systemic issues and capabilities to enhance DFSV response.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement capacity building strategies with DFSV and multicultural and settlement services, and faith and community leaders to increase their capacity to work effectively with, and better support, multicultural communities and victim-survivors
- Develop and/or adapt project resources that are responsive to needs and priorities identified through community engagement processes
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure quality and timely delivery of project activities and commitments
- Contribute to development of research, policy and practice advice, briefings and grant proposal as relevant
- Convene, facilitate and/or participate in a community(ies) of practice to promote evidence-based good practice in working with multicultural communities to prevent and respond to DFSV
- Develop and implement good practice approaches and provide advice to improve service and community responsiveness
- Advocate for change within sectors and services in a collaborative spirit
Essential Criteria
- Degree in Social Sciences, program management in related areas or equivalent experience
- Project management - Demonstrated experience delivering and reporting on projects/programs on time and to a high quality
- Stakeholder management - Experience building relationships with stakeholders to progress common goals
- Written and verbal communication skills -The ability to confidently convey ideas and information with clarity and a deep understanding of audience and purpose
- High-level written skills, and the ability to communicate with multiple and diverse audiences
- Expertise and skills to work in the DFSV sector
- Multicultural background or extensive experience with multicultural communities
- Knowledge of the current policy environment around DFSV
- Analytical skills related to data, evidence gathering and research
