The opportunity

QBE are seeking a hands-on, proactive and experienced individual to join our Enterprise Security Service (ESS) team as the Head of Business Optimisation. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a transformation and continuous improvement leader within the Security domain to drive our business optimisation agenda including operating model reviews, process improvement initiatives, task automation delivery, and special projects sponsored by Technology and Security executives.

We are seeking an individual who can build this new capability with Technology and Security executives, while executing on short term opportunities and building a longer-term roadmap for the team.

Your new role

In this role you will:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive business optimisation strategy and roadmap with a strong focus on clarity and streamlining of our operating model, process improvements and firming up our strategic priorities.- Review business effectiveness across all functional areas for improvement opportunities.- Build and lead a small team of talented professionals responsible for working with the leadership team to deliver our business optimisation strategy and roadmap.- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess our current operations (across people, processes, systems, and strategies), identify inefficiencies and challenges, and recommend practical and innovative solutions to enhance business efficiency and/or effectiveness.- As required, evaluate and analyse ESS’s ability to manage and mitigate identified security risks, threats, and vulnerabilities, providing proactive and reactive solutions and improvements to our operations.- Lead and deliver strategic and operational initiatives on our business optimisation roadmap, with strong focus on co-design and sustainable outcomes.- Stay abreast of emerging trends and advancements that may improve our security capabilities and integrate them into our functional strategy.- Collaborate with board and executive leadership to align security priorities with overall business goals and strategies.- As required, stand-up and support relevant strategic, architectural and operational initiatives sponsored by Technology and Security executives.

About you

To succeed in this role you will need:
- Proven experience in a leadership role within the field of business optimisation within the security domain, ideally with a focus on Financial Services.- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and regulations.- Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and the ability to identify, prioritize, and address security risks effectively.- Demonstrated success in driving process improvements and implementing security initiatives within a complex business environment.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.- Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams and functions.- Management consulting or related experiences are highly desirable.- Relevant certifications such as LPM, PMP, CISSP, CISM, or CISA are highly desirable.- Knowledge of broader security domains (e.g., physical security, financial crime, fraud) are highly desirable.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
